Mandeep Singh Dhalla, MD

Dr. Mandeep Singh Dhalla joins Retina Group of Florida after serving as Clinical Instructor in Ophthalmology at the Washington University School of Medicine in St Louis. During that time, he supervised ophthalmologists-in-training while maintaining a busy retinal practice at the University’s Retinal Eye Service and also at John Cochran Veterans Affairs Hospital. He has been recognized as one of the nation’s Top Ophthalmologists by the Consumer Research Council of America.
 
Dr. Dhalla graduated from the Honors Program in Medicine at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine earning both a Bachelor of Science and Medical Degree in only six years. For his medical training tuition he was awarded the prestigious Medical Board of Trustees scholarship. He then went on to complete his ophthalmology residency at the Henry Ford Hospital in Michigan. For demonstrating exceptional achievement as a physician, researcher, and teacher he received the Jan Rival Award and was named the most outstanding trainee across all specialties in the Henry Ford Health System.  Dr. Dhalla completed his Fellowship in Vitreoretinal Surgery and diseases at the renowned Barnes Retina Institute at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. He is Board-Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.     
 
His research interests include the management of wet age-related macular degeneration, surgical management of retinal detachment, and the treatment of advanced diabetic retinopathy. He has published numerous articles in the journals: RETINA, American Journal of Ophthalmology, Canadian Journal of Ophthalmology, British Journal of Ophthalmology, and Ophthalmic Surgery Lasers and Imaging. Dr Dhalla has presented his research at the annual meetings of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, Michigan Ophthalmological Society and American Society of Retina Specialists.
 
He is a member of the American Medical Association, American Academy of Ophthalmology, Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, and American Society of Retina Specialists.
 
Dr. Dhalla is also an active member of the United Sikh Religious and Educational Foundation, and the Sikh Society of South Florida.
