Ocular Migraine

Ocular migraine is a common variant of a migraine headache. It is believed to be caused by a vascular spasm that affects the blood supply to the vision center in the brain. Ocular migraine may cause visual disturbances in the peripheral vision first. You may see semi-circular jagged lines, colorful displays, pastel shimmering lights, or blurred vision. The visual disturbance may grow and obstruct your central vision. The visual disturbance may last from 15 to 20 minutes. You may experience a mild headache or fatigue after your visual symptoms.

Treatment for ocular migraine depends on the cause. The doctors at Retina Group of Florida are familiar with this condition and can help diagnose the cause and refer you to the appropriate doctor for treatment.
