Vitreoretinal Fellow

Dr. Garg is currently pursuing her vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at Retina Group of Florida. She earned her medical degree with honors from Government Medical College Chandigarh, India and went on to complete her ophthalmology residency from India’s premier institute Dr. Rajendra Prasad Centre for Ophthalmic Sciences, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, India as well as Tulane University School of Medicine, New Orleans, LA, USA. Here she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and has been honored with Veterans Affairs Health Professions Resident of the year award and Outstanding Research and Resident presentation award.
Dr. Garg has a special interest in the field of retinal imaging biomarkers and has over 70 publications in top peer-reviewed journals like Ophthalmology, JAMA Ophthalmology, American Journal of Ophthalmology, RETINA, Ophthalmology Retina, etc. During her postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard Retinal Imaging Lab, Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, Boston, she developed an imaging algorithm to quantify non perfusion in diabetic retinopathy (DR) on OCT Angiography and documented its importance in DR grading as well as diabetic kidney disease severity. During the pandemic, she also worked on a model for remote imaging which has potential applications in tele-ophthalmology.
Dr. Garg has presented her work at many National and international annual meetings like AAO, ARVO, ASRS, Retina Society, VBS, EURETINA, EVRS, WIO, for which she has received several international grants like ARVO Foundation travel grant, NEI travel grant, Rabb-Venable excellence in ophthalmology award and NIH travel grant. She has also been awarded the American Society of Retina Specialists (ASRS) distinguished contributor award.
Dr Garg is also a member of ARVO advocacy and outreach committee and has actively participated in ARVO and AAO Advocacy Day at the Capitol Hill advocating for patients and eye & vision research. In her free time, she loves dancing, painting, meditation and watching movies with her husband.
